By this awakening the oligarchy was dealt with as was needed, but think how much death and destruction could have been avoided if the financial insanity of the time had been successfully confronted before it took the house down. This is the danger that Dante had labored to expose by raising the quality of thinking throughout the whole land. He may not have been aware of the depth of the destruction that would ensue, and that it would take 100 years for Europe to recover from the consequences. Nevertheless, after the recovery had rebuild much of what was destroyed, Dante's work did eventually help ignite that great renaissance that occurred a century after his death. Who, therefore, can tell, today, where humanity would stand were it not for this single man's devotion to the cause of providing leadership?
On fundamentals such as these rests the hope of mankind, because the break-out conditions that have once changed and uplifted the world in the past can be recreated. Nothing else offers any hope. These conditions have to be recreated if this present civilization is to survive. Today, there is a movement in this direction, almost becoming a flood. Mankind's spirituality, although it is rarely recognized as such, is reasserting itself. It has been nurtured in the background for many decades.
Lyndon LaRouche's assessment is, that the breakout point was reached in October 1997 when the dying world-financial system began to fracture. This ended the status quo. The world entered what he described as a boundary layer between either total disintegration into a new dark age, or a total renewal and the beginning of the greatest renaissance ever. In this boundary layer the reassertion of spirituality will be the deciding factor, and the changes will be swift and enormous in scope.
A financial analyst once told this author that the breakdown of even the smallest of Canada's five major banks would be an inconceivable disaster for the nation. One can measure from this comment the enormous scope of a comprehensive global disintegration, and this not only of the banking systems world-wide, but of the entire global financial system.
Lyndon LaRouche insists that mankind cannot allow this to happen, and he predicts that we will witness in this boundary layer rapidly occurring world-shaping events of ever greater magnitude. He writes: "Beginning approximately October 1997, the world entered a critical boundary-layer of current world history, a presently ongoing process of abrupt, radical changes in opinion and institutions, after which almost nothing will be the same as prior to the time this tumultuous boundary-layer was first entered. Vast amounts of nominal financial holdings will be simply wiped out, including the great majority of nominal financial assets on the books today. Many governments and leading political parties will be swept away, their wreckage left, like mangled ruins rotting on the beaches, after one of the greatest storms of this century. Much of what had been leading opinion, too, will be swept away, or exist only as dusty, quaint curiosities among little-noticed records. The adducible rules of political life are now undergoing an accelerating rate of change, into a new direction. It is unlikely, that any way of acting which was deemed successful prior to the entry to this boundary layer, will succeed during the developments now unfolding."*(Lyndon H. Some of this has already occurred. The world has seen changes that would have been deemed impossible before, such as the reorientation of Russia, Malaysia, Japan, China, the bombing of Iraq followed by the nuclear rearmament of Russia. We have also seen the Empire's desperate attacks on the American President escalated to absurd proportions, only to fail time and time again. We have also seen the repeated traps the Empire has set for the man, became dismal failures that created a backlash. There is a great wind sweeping the scene. There are deep reaching movements in progress. Virtually everything is being challenged and confronted with references to truth, even while the lies are barely hatched. But there is also the development of nuclear war on the horizon that can erupt as quickly and for no apparent reasons, like the Blair and Gore instigated bombing of Iraq had demonstrated.
