Mathematically speaking, the strength of a civilization, expressed in population density, is in direct relationship to its energy production in general terms. The discovery of this interrelationship is one of Lyndon LaRouche's early achievements for which he has been internationally honored. Right now, humanity is playing the Empire's game, in that it is manipulating itself into a trap that is designed to destroy its food supply, its industry, and its transportation systems by volunteering to shut down its energy use on which its very existence depends as these infrastructures depend entirely on large scale energy production.
It is quite possible that billions of people will perish by this process that has now begun, or by similar processes. They may perish just as quietly as millions upon millions of people have already perished from the effects of scientific lies that resulted in the DDT ban.
The history of the scientific lie has had its beginning, most prominently in the Thomas Malthus, Charles Darwin, and Francis Galton era out which the Eugenics 'science' developed that had its most destructive manifest in Adolf Hitler's extermination of the Jewish population in his realm. This lie also did its dirty work on the American continent where it was reflected in racially oriented mass sterilizations and in such huge racially oriented mass movements as the infamous Ku Klax Klan.
In today's age the Empire's antipopulation deployment of science is no longer directly racially oriented. Rather, it has become universal in scope, and is directed against mankind's most vital infrastructures for living, such as its technologies for energy production, for protection from diseases, for food production, and for refrigeration. The Ozone Depletion scare, for instance, has already committed mankind to dramatically scale back its refrigeration capability, especially in the poorer nations. The death toll from this attack on humanity is expected to reach as high as 40 million people per year, world wide, once the CFC refrigerants are fully prohibited under the currently imposed ban.
The most powerful lies are those that are most deeply hidden, which thereby appear as truth. Ideological factors are frequently involved in both the creation of the lies and in their concealment. The services of science are often brought into the game to aid the concealment of ideologically contrived goals, and to impose the effect of a lie. This 'diversion' of science is easily accomplished with selective financial and political support for the agencies that lend themselves most readily to the game, and the judicial removal of those scientists from their post or status who stand up for what is real. On the wings of money and political power science can become misused as a destroyer of civilization.
If one were to relate this tendency to the parable of the Samaritan, one would find the Samaritan not pouring "oil" and "wine' into the injured man's wounds, but poison.
