The slave trading days are over, of course, but the Venetian ideology still lives and thrives. It has acquired many new faces since, which bear little resemblance to what had ravished the 16th through to the 19th century. Still, the 'hand of Venice' can be recognized by the idealism that degrades the human being to the status of a worm; that stifles economic development; that feeds on usury; that seeks out weaknesses and corrupts them; that loots the nations; kills the sovereign nation states; that infiltrates and destroys; that undermines culture and learning, and elevates bestiality; that dulls the spirit of men in order to foster docile subjects for its final goal of world domination; that lives on the proceeds of slave labor and dope trading... The list is quite a long one that describes the many faces of Venice in our modern world.
To understand Venice of the middle ages, provides a basis for understanding modern developments and their threat to civilization. Perhaps Mary Baker Eddy understood some of it, perhaps she understood it all. Her description for the term Adam covers thirty aspects that define in scientific terms the underlying principle that support Aristotelianism and its Venetian outgrowth in the old and new centuries. The scientific necessity for the universal prayerful treatment of the image of man may indeed be vital to the survival of civilization in this age.
The 650 year cycle of Venetian impositions that led to the repeated destruction of Europe, appears to be in the final stages of repeating itself. We see escalating conflicts and wars with a touch of genocide added. We see international domination and looting, and technological and cultural standards reduced to shambles, even standards of learning. We see austerity and homelessness on one side, and the creation of slave labor economies on another. We also see the ancient Aristotelian ideology surviving in the drive for the so-called "New World Order" of global central domination by some form of ruling elite with a self-proclaimed superior intellect by which it justifies its grasp for power.
