Such periods of progress are usually coincident with a strong development in language that enables advanced communication and the contemplation of higher and more complex ideas. The works of the Greek poet Homer are a good example, who developed a language in which people could think in complex terms and examine their axioms for truth. On the foundation established by this single man the Greek Classical Period unfolded that gave rise to an impressive procession of renowned metaphysical explorers, such as Solon who pioneered the idea of constitutional law, or Socrates and Plato who may have staged the platform that helped Christ Jesus to emerge, whose ideology, in turn, became centuries later the central driving force for the Golden Renaissance. Our present civilization may well rest on a foundation that was set up by Homer more then two and a half thousand years ago.
One can find the type of development that Homer started, repeated in Italy, centuries later, through the works of Dante, on whose background the Golden Renaissance unfolded. The Golden Renaissance, in turn, gave mankind the institution of the nation-state which has been unsurpassed to date as a foundation for a people's scientific and technological self-development. The fuller realization of mankind's potential may be in part a product of what Dante has achieved in his time.
If one considers the enormous impact that mental development has had on mankind's physical existence, metaphysics comes to light as an important subject to explore, from a scientific standpoint. This involves an exploration of all the diverse areas where the effect of intelligence impacts on human existence, both in a progressive and healing manner, and in a regressive and destructive manner.
The importance of this subject is not falling by the wayside in our modern, scientific age, but is instead escalating. The dynamically increasing world-population, according to the normal patterns of unfolding life, places on mankind a growing demand for resources in food, transportation, housing, employment, health care, education, financial stability, social order, even the physical security of life itself. The impact of intelligence, or the lack thereof, in every one of these areas is enormous. It effects the entire physical platform of existence. Here, healing becomes a subject that no longer concerns just disease, but must effect attitudes and perceptions that shape the policies by which the society lives.
Disease is no longer the major problem that is effecting the well-being of humanity. Poverty, starvation, and economic deprivation, impose more agony and untimely death than all other factors combined. Mankind's approach to its self-healing must cover also this scene, not just the medical dimension of healing. Naturally, the exploration of the fundamental principles that support economic and physical existence involves also an exploration of the principles for the healing of disease. The two cannot be separated. Healing and politics combine into one single broad spectrum. They are not as separated as one might assume, since both are aspects of policy that pertain to certain underlying universal laws which cannot be ignored without consequences. The aspects of physical and economic existence, health, and intelligence, are all fundamentally interlocked in a broad pattern of metaphysical effects - the effect of man's mental capacity or intelligence on physical existence.
A series of books has been created to explore the effects of intelligence on human existence, that this book is a part of. The series explores the principles for healing that have been discovered by the leading edge scientists in the field. It also explores mankind's failure to achieve what is minimally necessary to assure the survival of it's civilization. The book series covers a broad range of topics, ranging from economics and politics, to 19th century Christian Science healing, including topics of statecraft, scientific government, and self-government.
